VNX1, VNX2, eNAS: Install VNX Unisphere Client Launcher with Java, Firefox on Dell Workstation

Instructions

In the Windows Start Menu > Group EMC > Menu icon Unisphere VNX Management Launcher, calls a Visual Basic Script to setup the environment. Dell's Security Policy have removed Visual Basic from our workstations. Follow the steps to download, install, and run VNX Unisphere Client Launcher.
  1. Find, download, and install the new VNX Unisphere Client Launcher that includes Java and Firefox.
  2. Search in Dell's Product Support Library Downloads for VNX Unisphere Client 1.3.21.1.0322-1

  1. Run and install in the default location C:\Program Files (x86)\EMC\Unisphere VNX Management Launcher.
  2. Start a cmd prompt in admin mode and follow the Beyond Trust prompts.
  3. Change the directory to the location where the VNX Unisphere Client Launcher is located.
    cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\EMC\Unisphere VNX Management Launcher"
  4. Run Firefox with the full path to the startup index.html file. Firefox gets copied to the temp directory before it runs and the full path to the index.html file.
    .\FirefoxPortable\FirefoxPortable.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\EMC\Unisphere VNX Management Launcher\index.html"
  5. Follow the prompts to enable the Plugin.
  6. Enter the VNX2/VNX2/eNAS's IP Address. Since the Java framework is local on the workstation, it loads up quickly.
