Symptoms

The laptop does not POST after resuming from sleep

Your Dell 16 Pro PC16250 or Dell 14 Pro PC14250 laptop can fail to POST after resuming from sleep running the Windows operating system. The laptop does not respond and it messages nothing on-screen. However, it does give a repeating No POST error code using the laptops diagnostic LED.

A single amber and eight white (1A8W) LED flash code reports the following error:

Chipset “Catastrophic Error” signal has tripped

Cause

The Intel Management Engine (ME) firmware causes the Central Processor Unit (CPU) to stop responding. This happens when resuming from a low power state.
