Installing the system board

Prerequisites

If your are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

Steps

  1. Connect the I/O-board cable to the back of the system board.
  2. Turn the system board over, align and place the system board on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  3. Connect the display cable to the system board.
  4. Connect the keyboard-backlight cable (optional) to the system board, and close the latch.
  5. Connect the fingerprint-reader cable (optional) to the system board, and close the latch.
  6. Connect the touchpad cable to the system board, and close the latch.
  7. Connect the keyboard-backlight cable (optional) to the system board, and close the latch.
  8. Connect the keyboard cable to the system board, and close the latch.
  9. Place the USB Type-C bracket on the USB Type-C port.
    NOTE When replacing the system board, the USB Type-C bracket has to be removed from the existing system board and transferred to the replacement system board.
  10. Align the screw holes on the USB Type-C bracket with the screw holes on the system board.
  11. Replace the two (M2x3) screws that secure the USB Type-C bracket to the system board.
  12. Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
  13. Replace the two (M2x2) screws that secure the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.

Next steps

  1. Install the power-adapter port.
  2. Install the heat sink.
  3. Install the left fan.
  4. Install the right fan.
  5. Install the coin-cell battery.
  6. Install the battery.
  7. Install the solid-state drive in M.2 slot two.
  8. Install the solid-state drive in M.2 slot one.
  9. Install the WLAN card.
  10. Install the memory module.
  11. Install the base cover.
  12. Follow the procedure in After working inside your computer.
