Cyber Recovery vault storage requirements

Each DD system in the Cyber Recovery vault requires the following:

  • DD OS Version 6.2.1.50 and later
  • Two Ethernet interfaces:
    • A primary interface is for the DD management.
    • A second dedicated interface, which the Cyber Recovery software manages, is for replication.
  • A DD account with the admin role for use by the Cyber Recovery software to manage DD operations. We recommend that you name this account cradmin, however, you can provide a name of your choosing.
NOTE: You cannot use the sysadmin account for the Cyber Recovery DD system.
  • Valid licenses for DD Boost, Replication, Retention Lock Governance, and Retention Lock Compliance.
    • PowerProtect DD Retention Lock software provides data immutability for a specified time. Retention Lock functionality is enabled on a per-MTree basis, and the retention time is set on a per-file basis. Retention Lock is required for a vaulted environment.
    NOTE:

The Cyber Recovery software does not support the Indefinite Retention Hold capability of Retention Lock Governance or Retention Lock Compliance Modes.

Retention Lock Compliance Mode is not supported on the following platforms:

    • Dell PowerProtect DD3300 Appliances and Dell PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) storage appliances running versions of DD OS earlier than DD OS 7.10
    • Dell DP4400 Integrated Data Protection Appliances; only Retention Lock Governance Mode is supported on the DP4400 Integrated Data Protection Appliance
  • For each Cyber Recovery policy in the vault, capacity for at least three MTrees to protect one production MTree.
  • For a high availability (HA) deployment, two floating IP addresses: one for the Cyber Recovery management host and one for replication. HA must be enabled on the DD system.
NOTE: Direct Connect is not supported for an HA PowerProtect DD system in the Cyber Recovery vault.
  • Setup of the replication contexts and an initial replication between the production and vault DD systems for each replication context before you define Cyber Recovery policies.
