PowerProtect Data Manager 19.11 Kubernetes User Guide
Update PowerProtect Data Manager to the latest version in a Kubernetes environment
Use these steps to update PowerProtect Data Manager to the latest version in a Kubernetes environment.
Steps
-
Before updating, if you are not using the
cluster-admin role, perform the following actions:
-
From a
PowerProtect Data Manager command line, type the following command:
kubectl edit clusterrole powerprotect:discovery-clusterrole
-
Browse for
customresourcedefinitions in the
rules section, and then add the
delete verb. The format for the new verb should match the format of the other verbs. For example:
resources: - customresourcedefinitions verbs: - create - delete - get - list - update
- Save the edited file.
-
Type the following command:
kubectl edit clusterrole powerprotect:cluster-role
-
Browse for
deployments in the
rules section, and then add the
patch verb. The format for the new verb should match the format of the other verbs. For example:
resources: - deployments - deployments/scale verbs: - create - get - patch - list - update
-
If upgrading from a
PowerProtect Data Manager 19.8 and earlier release and your environment includes OpenShift, browse for
apiGroups and the existing
networking.k8s.io entry, and then add
operators.coreos.com and
konveyor.openshift.io entries below it that match the following content and format:
- apiGroups: - networking.k8.io resources: - networkpolicies verbs: - create - delete - get - apiGroups: - operators.coreos.com resources: - '*' verbs: - '*' - apiGroups: - konveyer.openshift.io resources: - '*' verbs: - '*' - apiGroups: [ "oadp.openshift.io" ] resources: [ '*' ] verbs: [ '*' ]
NOTE If upgrading from PowerProtect Data Manager 19.9, most of this content should have already been applied, and therefore, only the last three lines entries (starting with apiGroups: [ "oadp.openshift.io" ] are required. - Save the edited file.
NOTE If you already updated PowerProtect Data Manager without first performing this step, you can correct the update by following step 1, updating PowerProtect Data Manager again, and then following step 3. -
From a
PowerProtect Data Manager command line, type the following command:
- Follow the appropriate PowerProtect Data Manager update procedure from either the PowerProtect Data Manager Administration and User Guide or the PowerProtect Data Manager Deployment Guide.
-
After updating
PowerProtect Data Manager to the new version, type the following commands from a
PowerProtect Data Manager command line to apply the new RBAC
yaml. This step is required even if the
yaml was applied in
PowerProtect Data Manager 19.9 and earlier, in order to add any privileges that are required with the latest version.
cd /usr/local/brs/lib/cndm/misc tar -xvzf rbac.tar.gz cd rbac cat README.txt
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
