Removing the Heatsink Assembly

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer
  2. Remove the:
    1. SD card

    2. base cover

    3. battery

    4. hard-drive assembly

    5. memory

    6. WLAN

    7. WWAN

    8. keyboard lattice

    9. keyboard

    10. palmrest

    11. display-hinge brackets

    12. display assembly

    13. coin-cell battery

    14. system board

  3. Disconnect the system-fan cable from its connector on the system board. Figure displaying how to disconnect the heatsink-assembly cable from its connector on the system board.
  4. Perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the heatsink assembly to the system board [1].
