Removing the Heatsink Assembly

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the cover
  3. Using both hands, push away the two release handles while lifting the fan shroud upward and off the computer. Figure displaying how to remove the heat—sink cover
  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Press the fan cable [1].
    2. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board [2].
    3. Loosen the captive screws, lift the heat sink assembly and then remove it from the computer.
