Removing the Power Supply

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. cover
    2. front bezel
    3. optical drive
    4. drive cage
  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Press the 8–pin and 4–pin power cable [1].
    2. Disconnect the 8-pin and 4–pin power cables from the system board [2].
    3. Unroute the cable from the system board.

  4. Release the blue latch from the system.Figure displaying how to release blue latch.
  5. Remove the screws that secure the power supply to the back of the computer Figure displaying how to remove the screw that secures the power supply unit to the computer.
  6. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Press the latch downwards to release the power supply unit [1].
    2. Slide the power supply unit from the computer [2].

  7. Lift the power supply out of the computer.
