Removing heat sink

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. Side cover
    2. Front bezel
    3. HDD assembly
    4. Hard drive and optical drive module
    5. Heat sink duct
    6. Heat sink fan
  3. To remove the heat sink:
    1. Loosen the captive screws (4) that secure the heat sink to the system board [1].
      NOTE Remove the screw in the sequential order (1,2,3,4) as printed on the system board.
    2. Lift the heat sink away from the computer [2].
