Dell OpenManage Enterprise Modular Edition Version 2.00.00 for PowerEdge MX7000 Security Configuration Guide

PDF

Access control

The PowerEdge MX7000 LCD can operate in three modes; Disabled, View Only and View and Modify. By default, the LCD operates in "View and Modify" mode. The mode can be configured in the OME-Modular web and RESTful API interfaces. Users with chassis configuration privilege can switch modes:

LCD Security modes:

  • View and Modify—The user has full access to the LCD menu and can modify values.
  • View Only—The user has full access to the LCD menu but cannot modify values (accept storage mapping).
  • Disabled—The user has no access to the LCD menus and can only see the main menu showing the Alert count and help buttons.

User with chassis configuration privilege logs in to the OME-Modular web interface and goes to the local access configuration screen. If LCD hardware is present, the OME-Modular web interface allows a user to configure the LCD settings. Then the user selects the LCD mode from the LCD Access configuration drop-down.

Alternate API flow. User with chassis configuration privilege invokes rest command to configure the LCD. If an LCD is not present, the rest API displays an error message indicating that there is no LCD.

If users change the LCD security mode in OME-Modular while they are interacting with the LCD, the LCD returns to the home screen and all changes are discarded.
