SNMP settings

You must configure an SNMP protocol to enable monitoring of MX7000 chassis and sleds by an external console such as OpenManage Enterprise. You can download MIB files in SNMP v1 and v2 formats using the Settings > Network Services > SNMP Settings. Configuring port number, supported protocol and authentication criteria helps control access to pull data from network devices.

By default, All SNMP protocols are supported. Customer can choose to enable only SNMP v3 protocol or keep all protocol support as is. SNMP v3 users should be configured to use v3 protocol.

Enabled Read-Write When disabled, any request to get data over SNMP protocol is blocked.
Port Number 10-65535 Default port number is 161. Customer can configure port number starting from 10-65535.
Protocol All (v1/v2/v3), SNMP v3 Default protocol selection is All(v1/v2/v3). Customer can click the drop-down and change to SNMP v3 protocol support only.
User Configuration (SNMP Read-Only) SNMP v3 Users This button opens a new widget to configure SNMP v3 users.
Community Name (SNMP Read-Only) Read-Write Community Name is applicable for only SNMP v1 and v2 version. Default value is public.

When Protocol selection is All (v1/v2/v3), It is mandatory to configure Community Name.

Management Information Base(MIB) v1 file MX7000-OME--v1.mib Customer can download the respective MIB file for pulling data from network device.
Management Information Base(MIB) v2 file MX7000-OME-M-v2.mib SNMP v2 MIB file supports pulling data using SNMP v3 authentication as well.
