KVM

You can access or modify chassis settings at the chassis using the Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) interface. Physical presence is needed on premise to use this feature. Keyboard and mouse are used as input devices while a monitor, which is connected through mini Display Port, acts as output device.

Use KVM interface to connect to:

  • OME-Modular (Management Module) and run racadm commands through CLI interface
  • Any of the installed compute sleds and view or control host operating system virtual console

Access Control

Authentication is needed at various levels before accessing a resource through KVM.

Enable the KVM feature in the MM UI before the feature could be used. This setting is available at UI > Settings > Local Access Configuration > Enable KVM Access .

You can connect to OME-Modular and any compute sleds using KVM interface.

  • At Connection to OME-Modular (Management Module)
    • Access to OME-Modular must be authenticated before getting access to racadm shell.

    • Access to sled host virtual console needs license. When license is not provisioned, iDRAC displays a blank page.

When license is provisioned, user authentication is needed with host operating system. You must have an iDRAC Enterprise or Datacenter license to enable the virtual console and virtual media in iDRAC. For more information, see the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller User's Guide, available at dell.com/idracmanuals. You can download a license from Dell Digital Locker.
