Starting Vim editor

Vim Editor is a text editing tool used to open the .txt files.

  1. Boot the system by using the Linux-Based Diagnostics Tools (Dell 12G-14G servers) option.
    The CentOS desktop is displayed.
  2. Double-click the gnome-terminal icon.
    The GNOME terminal window is displayed.
  3. At the command prompt, type vim file_name, where file_name is the name of the file.
    The vim editor is displayed.
  4. To insert text, type i.
  5. Type the required information.
  6. To exit the insert mode, press Esc.
  7. To save the file, type :wq.
    The file is saved in the current folder.
