More Details on Wal-Mart, Adding Sam’s Club Soon

Yesterday, we started selling Dimension E521 desktops in more than 3,000 Wal-Mart stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Later this week, we will be selling the Dimension E521 desktop and the Inspiron 1501 notebook through almost 600 Sam’s Club stores across the United States. The press release contains configuration and pricing details for these systems. Later in the summer, we will start to offer a Dell notebook through Wal-Mart as well.

This has been a heated topic among Direct2Dell readers. Wanted to reiterate something I said in my previous post: it’s only a small part of a broader global retail and consumer strategy that we’ll roll out over time. Much more to come on the service provider front as well. Things like this agreement will allow us to reach more customers around the world, and all of these strategies are meant to augment the direct model, not replace it.

We’ll continue to use Direct2Dell to communicate both incremental and significant updates on our retail and service provider strategy.
