Dell Showcases GPU-Enabled Solutions at GTC This Week

The NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference kicks off this week, March 18 – 21 in San Jose, CA, and Dell is there to talk to our customers, including scientists, developers, graphic artists, designers, researchers, engineers, and IT managers to learn about and help them tackle their day-to-day computational and graphics challenges. We are a diamond sponsor this year and showcasing our NVIDIA GPU-enabled demos including, graphics intensive desktop virtualization systems,  for Healthcare, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Media and Entertainment, as well as High Performance Computing(HPC) featuring Dell Precision workstation and Dell PowerEdge server platforms.  In addition to the various technology demonstrations, Dell is hosting four tutorials and talks during the conference.

  • Making Fluids More Intuitive: A GPU Based Gaseous Fluid Simulation and Rendering Pipeline for VFX – Marc Leidy, Visual Effects Artist, Lightdog Film, along with Jascha Wetzel, Software Engineer, Jawset Visual Computing will present a GPU-based pipeline for gaseous fluid simulation and volumetric rendering from both an engineer’s and an artist’s perspective. Using real-world visual effects examples, they will discuss how this pipeline affects the day-to-day workflow for film and television visual effects production. Marc will demonstrate the pipeline on a Dell Precision T7600 workstation.

Finally, Dell is demonstrating our commitment to helping our customers virtualize their myriad workloads including design and graphics-intensive applications by providing  support for NVIDIA’s new GRID technology, announced today. We are working closely with NVIDIA to offer a range of robust virtualized graphics solutions to our customers starting with the Dell PowerEdge R720 server this month, and later Dell Precision workstations and Dell Desktop Virtualization Solutions Enterprise stacks. By offering NVIDIA GRID technology to our customers, we are enabling customers to work from anywhere on any device with access to computing and rich graphics performance while keeping data in a central and secure location.
