Dell Storage Forum London 2012 – peer into the planning of the technology and best practices sessions

Posted on behalf of Kevin Wittmer, Director of Dell’s Storage Solutions Marketing

We are fast approaching our first Dell Storage Forum (DSF) EMEA event in London, UK the week of January 9 2012.  DSF London (www.dellstorageforum.com) will be a week-long, in depth storage university for Dell’s storage customers and channel partners.  Attendees will experience technical deep dive breakout sessions with live demos, hands-on labs, classroom training, product and solution futures presentations, executive vision and strategy keynotes, and an opportunity to network with peers and Dell storage experts.

I’ve been working since late August planning the customer and channel partner breakout sessions – taking the best sessions and studying the attendee feedback from DSF Orlando last June, identifying new topics, balancing best practices sessions with futures, and lining up subject matter expert speakers to ensure that the event is time well spent for all attendees.  The Channel Partner Agenda and Customer Agenda are now available on-line to view and include session titles, abstracts, rooms, and session day / time.  Here’s some of the exciting information that you’ll see inside…

We’re working with the presenters to ensure that the content is rich in technical detail and is practical.  Dell Storage Solutions not only are embedded with innovative designs but provide a rich set of features and functionality that enable administrators to get more out of their storage environment than they sometimes ever imagined.  Topics covered will range from storage management (beginner to advanced), optimizing storage environments with virtualization hypervisors, designing efficient storage deployments for virtual desktops, reference architectures and best practices for applications like Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, and Oracle, configuring SANs for proper performance and resiliency, building affordable disaster recovery solutions, how to get the most out of data tiering, protecting and recovery data efficiently and reliably, and architecting a storage environment to meet long-term data retention and compliance requirements without breaking IT budgets.

Beyond the day-to-day, practical information that we will share, the futures sessions will give sneak peaks into some of the really cool things going on in the Dell Storage Labs.  For example, our leading technologists will reveal recent developments in the Dell Fluid File System (technology from our Exanet purchase) and the integration of deduplication and compression technology from Dell’s acquisition of Ocarina Networks.

I’m very excited to be leading the planning and readiness of these sessions so that if you get to attend I am hoping you will leave DSF London enriched with knowledge that will help you leverage your Dell Storage Solutions more effectively for your businesses.  We are investing to be long-term partners with you – delivering innovation, advanced capabilities, seamless integration with applications, and investment protection that lasts not just a few years but a decade or more.

I hope to see you at Dell Storage Forum London in January, or DSF Boston coming afterwards in June.

Kevin
