SC08 is billed as THE international conference for high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis, and this year is taking place in Dell's hometown of Austin, Texas. Michael's keynote comes as the supercomputing world celebrates its 20th anniversary of conferences, the first conference taking place twenty years ago in Orlando. The conference opened on this past Saturday with technical break-out sessions. Michael's keynote opens the general exhibit area tomorrow morning.

The conference will feature the latest scientific and technical innovations from around the world. Bringing together scientists, engineers, researchers, educators, programmers, system administrators and managers, SC08 will be the forum for demonstrating how these developments are driving new ideas, new discoveries and new industries.

In his address, Michael is expected to discuss waves of innovation that have shaped high-performance computing over the past 40 years – from specialized processors and proprietary operating systems in the 1970s, to microprocessor-based systems of the 1980s and 90s, to the emergence of high-performance computing clusters built using standardized hardware are software.

I welcome you to listen tomorrow as Michael addresses the SC08 audience.
