Preparing the Next Generation Workforce

The students in our classrooms and lecture halls today are our next generation workforce. They’ll be the ones providing us healthcare treatment, managing our businesses and serving as our civic leaders. How can education institutions embrace new technology to prepare the next generation for this responsibility?

It goes without saying that technology in education can have an enormous impact, but its significance goes beyond the classroom and research labs. It’s not just about how much we can advance learning, but also our opportunity to build a culture of embracing new solutions. It is up to us to set a precedent for innovation so the next generation is able to have a greater impact down the road.

Dell and Intel recently partnered on a Future Workforce Study, surveying the global business community on expectations for the future work environment with technology. The study presented some interesting ideas as we think more about the next generation.

  • Among young professionals surveyed, nearly 70 percent expect to be working in a ‘smart’ offices in the next five years.
  • Three in five believe face-to-face communications will be obsolete with advancements in communication tools and virtual teams.
  • More than two-third of all respondents would be willing to adopt virtual and augmented reality in their professional lives.

This week, Dell will be at the EDUCAUSE annual conference in Anaheim this week, which brings together IT professionals to discuss and share ideas on how we can advance higher education. We will be talking a lot about how we can building the right learning environment for the modern day, touching on areas like teaching and learning applications, cloud, big data and learning analytics, security and devices.

We’re even more excited to talk about the recent Dell and EMC merger, and our growing commitment as an extended company to education institutions around the world by delivering innovative education technology solutions that support teaching and learning transformation, power the underlying infrastructure, and provide predictive learning analytics and cloud based services.

Bringing together combined capabilities of IT industry leaders, Dell remains dedicated to enabling a new era of digital learning that is even more experiential, student-centered and personalized.

If attending, we invite you to join us at the Dell Booth #401 at the Anaheim Convention Center with a full schedule of programs throughout the week: Dell.com/EDUCAUSE. You can also follow the conversation at @DellEdu
