The Sound and the Jury 2009 Final Rounds

It’s hot here in Austin Texas, and even hotter online as the competition heats up again for this year’s The Sound and the Jury contest. Once again hosted by the Dell Lounge and going into its 3rd year, The Sound and the Jury competition is a virtual battle of the bands offering one lucky band the ultimate grand prize: a slot on the Dell Stage at Austin City Limits (Oct. 2-4, 2009).

Watch the S&J 2008 finals recap at Antone’s where the finalists played their hearts out.

Since July, bands have been rigorously promoting themselves online using various social media websites such as MySpace and Facebook, along with utilizing their own band web sites when available. All in an effort to rally the fan base, in hopes of pushing them to the top of the voting round.

And with ACL less than a month away and two of the four qualifying rounds complete, there remain only 20 contenders in Round 3, which ends Sept. 18.  This week and next, fans can vote daily for their favorite band at http://delllounge.com/soundandthejury/ .

The five bands to exit Round 3 with the most votes will compete in a live battle of the bands at Austin’s iconic music venue Antone’s on Sept. 30.  One band will be selected at the end of the night by audience ballot vote and an industry judging panel. The winning band will share the experience of performing on the Dell Stage with musical heavyweights Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Andrew Bird , Bon Iver, Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix, The Decemberists and many more.
