Troubleshooting CheckList
Service
The DSM SA Connection Service has to be running. This can be checked on the Windows Services console.
Port Requirements
Starting with OMSA 8.X, in addition to the webserver port defined in server.xml OMSA (java) also requires six additional ephemeral ports.

DNS Name
If the hostname contains an '_' the webserver cannot be reachable using the hostname or FQDN. The '_' is illegal in DNS names but MSFT will still allow you to set a hostname containing invalid DNS characters.
The webserver cannot be reachable using IP or using localhost if local.
Apache Directories
Config Files.
Configuration files are located in the following directory "C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\apache-tomcat\conf"
The server.xml file can be used to change the webserver port.
Log Files
Log files are located in the following directory "C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\apache-tomcat\logs"
- Catalina log is the main service log
- Localhost access log can be useful to see what pages and HTTP response codes have been requested
The Catalina Log can also be output to the console by launching the process with –clrun flag.
- Stop the DSM SA Connection Service
- Launch the process
dsm_sa_connsvc64.exe -clrun
Java logs can be enabled using the following.
- Copy
C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\oma\ini\oma.properties C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\oma\ini\oma.properties.bak - Edit
C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\oma\ini\oma.properties to add the following lines
preferences.system.customdelimiter=semicolon
preferences.system.skin=modern
preferences.system.scheme=
om.registration.order.hip=0
om.registration.order.oma=1
om.registration.order.storage=2
logging.level=9
logging.target=0
logging.logpath=oma.log
- Copy
C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\oma\ini\oma.properties c:\windows\system32 - Restart DSM SA Connection Service
The log is located in C:\windows\system32\oma.log
