VxRail: Upgrade Stops at Host "Lifecycle Controller: Applying updates or setting system configuration. Job Completed. Continue to SSM task."

Symptoms

VxRail: Host is stuck during upgrade at "Lifecycle Controller: Applying updates or setting system configuration"

During upgrade, when the host is put in maintenance mode and rebooted, it does not boot up and shows the following screen:

LCM logs:

Failed to upgrade: <upgrade file name>, with exception:
com.vce.lcm.exception.LCMException: Failed to reboot host <host name>.

Cause

This may happen when one of the iDRAC life-cycle tasks becomes stuck.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, reset the life-cycle tasks. 
  1. SSH to the iDRAC of the node and type the below commands:
racadm jobqueue delete -i JID_CLEARALL_FORCE
racadm set LifecycleController.LCAttributes.LifecycleControllerState 0
racadm set LifecycleController.LCAttributes.LifecycleControllerState 1
racadm racreset
  1. Reset the node from the iDRAC UI with Virtual Power Drain. (see figure below)

  1. Wait until the node boots up.
  2. After the node boots up, the upgrade task fails on the VxRail Manager UI.
  3. Retry the upgrade from UI.

Additional Information
