Symptoms

The NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) solution is configured with the vProxy Appliance. The file level restore (FLR) of a virtual machine (VM) fails to mount the VMDK on the target VM. The FLR mount session log shows:

Cause

The vProxies were upgraded, and the Dell FLR Agent upgrade fails on the target VM. The cause of the Dell FLR Agent upgrade failure is not known.

The Microsoft Windows Installer (msiexec.exe) fails to run the Dell FLR Agent upgrade and generates Windows exit status 1603 (Fatal error during installation). The Dell FLR Agent output file indicates that the fatal error is related to Windows exit status 1316 (The specified account already exists).

Resolution

Workaround:
Log in to the target VM and manually uninstall the Dell FLR Agent. The subsequent FLR performs a fresh Dell FLR Agent installation.

The following knowledge articles detail how to manually install the FLR Agent on a Virtual Machine.
