How to Resolve an Offline Folder Assertion Error Received After an Upgrade to Dell Encryption in v8.3.1

Resolution
Users may still experience the assertion failure has occurred error after upgrading to Dell Encryption v8.3.1 as seen in prior versions of Dell Encryption. The error occurs whenever a previous version of Dell Encryption was installed on the endpoint and offline folder synchronization was enabled.
The Sync Results screen may display the error message: An assertion failure has occurred.

To work around this issue:
- Browse to the network location of the folder that is being made available offline.
- Right-click the folder to display the menu and then clear Always available offline.

- The Always Available Offline dialog box displays Changing files so they are not always available offline… and the progress of the changes that are being made.

- Once the process is complete, click Close.
- Right-click the folder again to display the menu and recheck Always available offline.

- Again, the Always Available Offline dialog box displays, this time showing Preparing files so they are always available offline… along with progress of the changes that are being made.

- Once the operation of making the files available offline is complete, the files begin to synchronize properly.
