Upgrade Dell DisplayLink Drivers for USB Docking Stations Troubleshoot Guide

DisplayLink Driver
When working with a D3100 or any other USB 3.0 docking station that needs the DisplayLink driver. Trying to install a new version of the driver may give an error. The error may say that an older version is installed, even after removing the older driver. This may be due to other software on the computer that uses DisplayLink and Magic Control Technology (MCT) which supplies docks similar to the D3100.
Follow these steps to remove the MCT software and older DisplayLink driver software:
- Click START > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall any of the following software with these names to get DisplayLink to work:
- j5 USB DISPLAY ADAPTER
- j5 USB FUNCTIONAL DOCKING STATION
- INSTALLER FOR USB GRAPHICS DEVICE
- MCT USB GRAPHICS SOFTWARE
- FRESCO LOGIC USB VGA DRIVER
- DISPLAYLINK CORE SOFTWARE
- Restart the computer.

- Install the most recent version of the DisplayLink driver file, which is on the DisplayLink Website: Displaylink.com/Downloads/Windows
If these steps do not work, the user may have other USB Graphics software that leaves services on the computer.
These advanced steps allow the DisplayLink driver to install.
- Click the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner, and search for "cmd."
- Right-click "Command prompt," and then select "Run as Administrator."
- If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
- Type:
sc delete GManagerthen press ENTER - Type:
sc delete MctUsbAudioand press ENTER - Type:
sc delete mctkmdand press ENTER - Type:
sc delete mctkmdldrand press ENTER - Type:
sc delete MCTDesktopSvrand press ENTER - Restart the computer.
- Install the most recent version of the DisplayLink driver file, which is on the DisplayLink Website: Displaylink.com/Downloads/Windows
