Resolution
Depending on your encryption rules, you must add the following Level 3 exclusion to SDE, Common, and User encryption definition areas in the Remote Management console to exclude the *vmem files from being encrypted:
-^3F#:\;vmem
Users have no other options but to exclude the *vmem files from encryption. There is no way to recover a snapshot once it has been made unusable.
