Symptoms

When Dell PowerStore encounters an issue, an error alert is generated to help identify the issue. This article explains the different possible causes and the relevant remediation for these error alerts. If your issue is not resolved despite the solution provided, contact Dell Technical Support.

Cause

Alert ID XMS_LOCAL_DISK_DISK_FAILURE_EMPTY
Alert Text The internal M.2 boot module slot in %(slot_num) used as %(local_disk_purpose) is empty.
Error Code (0x00305602)
Resolution Cause
This alert is raised when an Internal M.2 Boot Module is not detected at initial installation.

Remediation
Two M.2 Boot Modules, internal to each node, are required. Contact Dell Technical Support to replace the missing Internal M.2 Boot Module.

 

Alert ID XMS_LOCAL_DISK_DISK_FAILURE_UNINITIALIZED
Alert Text The internal M.2 boot module is not initialized.
Error Code (0x00305606)
Resolution Cause
This alert is raised when an Internal M.2 Boot Module is not initialized.

Remediation
If the issue persists, contact Dell Technical Support.

 

Alert ID XMS_LOCAL_DISK_FRU_STATE_DISCONNECTED
Alert Text The internal M.2 boot module is disconnected.
Error Code (0x00305804)
Resolution Cause
The Internal M.2 Boot Module is not detected or the SN/PN cannot be retrieved. One of the following may cause this condition:      
  1. The Internal M.2 Boot Module is physically disconnected or removed.
  2. As the result of the replacement of a M.2 Boot Module or of an adjacent DIMM, the M.2 Boot Module may not be properly seated.
  3. The Internal M.2 Boot Module is not visible to the platform software.

Alert ID XMS_LOCAL_DISK_FRU_COMP_STATUS_INCOMPATIBLE
Alert Text Internal M.2 boot module in slot %(slot_num)s of size %(size_gb)s GB does not meet the minimum required size of %(min_size_gb)s GB for this slot.
Error Code (0x0030b702)
Resolution Cause
This alert is raised if the Internal M.2 Boot Module is replaced with a non-compatible device.

Remediation
Replace the affected Internal M.2 Boot Module with a compatible part.

 

Alert ID XMS_LOCAL_DISK_FRU_STATE_FAILED
XMS_LOCAL_DISK_POLLING_STATUS_FAILED
XMS_LOCAL_DISK_POLLING_STATUS_CRITICAL
Alert Text The internal M.2 boot module has faulted.
Polling failed for internal M.2 boot module in slot %(slot_num)s.
Root file system is read-only on the internal M.2 boot module in slot %(slot_num)s.
Error Code (0x00305803)
(0x0030ba02)
(0x0030ba03)
Resolution Cause
  1. (0x00305803) is generated when the M.2 device SMART status indicates that there is an issue with the device.
  2. (0x0030ba03) is raised when the root file system on the Module 0 M.2 boot module becomes read-only. This condition also causes the node to fail, raising the alert (0x00305803) because the system cannot operate with the device in this state.
  3. (0x0030ba02) is raised due to a system monitoring error in polling the state of the device. This condition may also raise (0x00305803).
