OpenManage Enterprise is a systems management and monitoring application that provides a comprehensive view of the Dell EMC servers, chassis, storage, and network switches on the enterprise network. The integrated Dell Remote Access Contoller (iDRAC) provides similar information and functionality in an out-of-band method as well as access regardless of the operating system state.
OpenManage Server Adminstrator is supported on most versions of Microsoft Windows, Linux and ESXi operating systems. Additionally, OMSA can be installed in different deployment scenarios to minimize the footprint on the managed system and remotely managed. You can install Server Administrator on multiple systems through an unattended installation across a network. The Dell OpenManage installer provides installation scripts and RPM packages to install and uninstall Dell OpenManage Server Administrator and other managed system software components on your managed system.
Step 1:
Unpack the downloaded Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Managed Node file default unpack location C:\OpenManage.
Once unpacked please browse to C:\OpenManage\windows and run the and run the setup.exe to begin the installation on the Server/Host, you wish to manage.
The Dell Open Manage Install window appears and will prompt you to choose what utility to install.
Step 1: The Dell OpenManage Server Administrator prerequisite status screen displays and runs the prerequisite checks for the managed system.
Resolve all error and warning situations before continuing the installation. When ready to install, click Server Administrator.
Step 2:
The Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Wizard appears, click Next.
Step 3:
Accept the license agreement, and click Next.
Step 4:
Select the type of installation required:
Typical: All program features are installed.
Custom: Choose which features you want to be installed and choose the installation directory.
To perform a custom installation, select Custom and click Next to continue.
Step 5:
Select the features to install, and check the destination folder. When ready to continue, click Next.
Step 6:
To begin the installation click Install.
Step 7:
The installation process begins.
Step 8:
When the installation has completed, click Finish to exit the installer.
To access the documentation and details for individual versions, select your OpenManage Server Administrator version. Then click on the "Manuals & documents" tab. The OMSA User's Guide and additional documents will be displayed. Additional documents include Installation Guides, Command Line Interface (CLI) Guide, Release Notes, and more.
