Symptoms

PowerProtect Data Manager Kubernetes backup failed. One can see the error 'Unable to create snapshots. Creating VolumeSnapshot exceeds safeguard limit.' in PPDM GUI.

Below error can be observed in logs:

Cause

In one instance where this is observed, the external-snapshotter from Kubernetes is installed to "default" namespace which makes it unusable for other namespaces.

Resolution

Please make sure external-snapshotter is available for namespaces.
