Cause
The reason for this failure is NetWorker server in the Vault is running without a permanent license and the EVAL created during the software installation expired. NetWorker trial or EVAL license period expires after 90 days of the installation.
Resolution
There are two options to address this issue:
- Get a permanent license.
- Generate another 90-day EVAL license period in the NetWorker vault with the following workaround:
NOTE: These steps create a NetWorker configuration from scratch giving another 90-day grace period, but all NetWorker configurations are lost. Be sure about what you are going to do before you do it.
- Stop NetWorker vault server services and daemons.
Linux: systemctl stop networker Windows: net stop nsrexecd /y
- Delete or rename the following folders:
Linux: /nsr/res, /nsr/mm, and /nsr/index Windows: disk_letter:\...\nsr\res, disk_letter:\...\nsr\mm, and disk_letter:\...\nsr\index
- Start NetWorker vault services and daemons.
Linux: systemctl start networker Windows: net start nsrd && net start gstd
NOTE: Starting gstd is only required if the NetWorker Management Console (NMC) server package is installed. This is also only required on Windows hosts. Stopping NetWorker on Linux does not stop the NMC services; however, stopping NetWorker on a Windows system stops NMC services.
