Upgrade using Wyse Management Suite (WMS)

Follow these steps to upgrade from ThinOS 9 to ThinOS 10 using Wyse Management Suite:

  1. If using a private Wyse Management Suite server, download the Root_2502.10_0052_signed.pkg file from your thin client’s hardware page at Dell Support and copy it to the Wyse Management Suite server.
Note: This file is already uploaded to the Wyse Management Suite Cloud server.
  2. Either identify the Wyse Management Suite group that the target device (or target devices) is part of or create a new ThinOS 9.x policy group for upgrade purposes. This must be a ThinOS 9.x policy group as the devices cannot apply ThinOS 10.x policies yet.
  3. Go to the Wyse Management Suite console, then go to and highlight the identified group.
  4. Click Edit Policies and then ThinOS 9.x to modify the group policy.
  5. Click the Advanced option.
  6. Go to Firmware, then to the OS Firmware Updates option.
  7. If the appropriate firmware is not listed, click the Browse button, go to the Root_2502.10_0052_signed.pkg file, select it, and then click the Open button.
  8. Once the firmware is uploaded, select the checkbox next to it.
  9. From the Firmware Update Logic option, choose the appropriate option.
  10. Click the Save & Publish button to save the changes to this policy.
  11. Eligible devices in this group now start to update to the ThinOS 10.x image. The upgraded device retains its previous Wyse Management Suite Group settings.
    Note:
    • Once devices have finished updating using this method, any needed application packages must be installed using ThinOS 10.x policy.
    • Dell Technologies recommends updating the BIOS if applicable.

Upgrade using the Local Admin Policy Tool (APT)

Follow these steps to upgrade from ThinOS 9 to ThinOS 10 using the Admin Policy Tool:

  10. Select the checkbox next to the 2502.10.0052 version.

    • Dell Technologies recommends updating the BIOS if applicable.
