Removing the display panel
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the display assembly.
About this task
The following images indicate the location of the display panel and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Use a plastic scribe to carefully pry open the display panel from the recesses at the U-shaped indents above the left and right display hinges.
- Use a plastic scribe to pry open the outside left and right edges of the display panel.
CAUTION:Prying from the bottom edge of the panel may damage components located near the bottom of the display assembly. - Carefully flip the display panel to access the display cable.
- Peel back the conductive tape that secures the display cable to the back of the display panel.
- Peel and remove the rubber spacer on the display cable.
- For computers that support USI pen, disconnect the USI pen cable from the connector on the back of the display panel.
- Disconnect the display cable from the connector on the back of the display panel.
- Lift and remove the display panel from the display assembly.
