Deploying CyberSense using the CyberSense AMI

Manually deploy CyberSense on AWS using the CyberSense AMI provided by Dell Technologies.

Prerequisites

About this task

The deployment is a typical AWS AMI deployment.

Steps

  1. Log in to the AWS Management Console.
  2. Find the CyberSense AMI and ensure that it will be deployed in the same region as Cyber Recovery vault.
  3. To create an instance, click Launch Instance from AMI:
    1. Under Name and tags, enter a meaningful name for the instance.
    2. Under Instance type, select one of the following instance types from the list menu:
      • r5b.8xlarge—For processing agent-based backups, no VMDKs, or a minimal number of VMDKs in indexing jobs
      • i3en.12xlarge—For processing a large number of disk images and a large amount of data
    3. Under Key pair (login), select the key pair from the list menu,
The key pair was created to deploy the Cyber Recovery solution on AWS, as described in Preparing your environment.
  4. Under Network settings, click Edit and:
    1. Under VPC, select the Cyber Recovery VPC, which is the Cyber Recovery vault.
    2. Under Subnet, select the subnet that contains the DDVE and the Cyber Recovery management host.
    3. Under Firewall (security groups), either create a security group or select an existing security group.

The Cyber Recovery software manages the inbound and outbound rules of the security group.

NOTE: Record the name of the security group, which will be required to create a unique tag ID after the instance has been deployed.
  5. Click Advanced details and under IAM instance profile, select the profile that you created as a prerequisite from the list menu.

Next steps

Assign a unique tag to the security group to be able to add CyberSense as an application in the Cyber Recovery UI.
