Deploying PowerProtect Data Manager in AWS

Use the CloudFormation template to deploy the PowerProtect Data Manager application in AWS.

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Go to AWS Marketplace: Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager and PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition at https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-tszhzrn6pwoj6?sr=0-1&ref_=beagle&applicationId=AWSMPContessa.
  2. Select the latest software version and the same region in which the Cyber Recovery vault is deployed.
  3. Launch the CloudFormation template.
    The CloudFormation service opens in the AWS Management Console.
  4. On the Create stack page, click Next.
    The Specify stack details page is displayed.
  5. On the Specify stack details page, complete the following parameter fields and click Next:
    • Stack name—Enter an identifying name.
    • VPC ID—From the drop-down list, select the ID of the vault.
    • Subnet ID—From the drop-down list, select the subnet where the Cyber Recovery management host is deployed.
    • Security ID—Enter the ID of the security group, which you created earlier.
    • Key Pair—Select a key pair
    • Launch DDVE instance—Ensure that the value is set to No as the Cyber Recovery vault already includes a DDVE system.
    NOTE: Ignore all the other parameter fields.
  6. On the Configure stack options page, click Next.
  7. On the Review page, verify the parameters that you have set, click the acknowledgment check boxes at the bottom of the page, and then click Submit.
    The dashboard shows that the PowerProtect Data Manager instance is running.
  8. Change the name of the PowerProtect Data Manager instance to PPDM.
