Resetting the CyberSense root password

After the CyberSense instance has been deployed, reset the CyberSense root password. Use RDP to log in to the jump host to access the CyberSense host.

Prerequisites

Before you log in to the CyberSense host, wait approximately 10 minutes to ensure that the installation is completed.

Steps

  1. From the jump host, open a PowerShell session with admin privileges.
  2. Use SSH to access the CyberSense host.
    ssh -i <private-key> ec2-user@<ip-of-cs-instance>

    where

    • <private-key> is the path to the private key that you used to deploy the CyberSense AMI.
    • <ip-of-cr-instance> is the IP address of the CyberSense instance.
  3. Change to the root user.
    sudo passwd root
  4. Edit the etc/ssh/sshd_config file:
    Change the values for PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication to yes.
  5. Type the following command:
    service sshd restart
