Installing the keyboard

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

The following image indicates the keyboard and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Align the screw holes on the keyboard with the screw holes on the palmrest.
Replace the 28 screws (M1.2x1.5) that secure the keyboard to the palmrest.
Adhere the tapes that secure the antenna cables to the keyboard.
NOTE Applicable on computers shipped with WWAN card.
Align the screw holes on the fan bracket with the screw holes on the palmrest.
Remove the screw (M1.4x2.3) that secures the fan bracket to the palmrest.

Install the system board.
NOTE The system board can be removed with the heatsink attached to avoid breaking the thermal bond between system board and heatsink.
Install the power button with optional fingerprint reader.
Install the I/O board.
Install the speakers.
Install the heat sink (discrete graphics card) or heat sink (integrated graphics card), whichever applicable.
Install the fan (discrete graphics card) or fan (integrated graphics card), whichever applicable.
Install the display assembly.
Install the M.2 2280 solid-state drive/Intel Optane or M.2 2230 solid-state drive, whichever applicable.
Install the battery.
Install the base cover.
Follow the procedure in after working inside your computer.
