Removing the keyboard

Follow the procedure in before working inside your computer.
Remove the base cover.
Remove the battery.
Remove the M.2 2280 solid-state drive/Intel Optane or M.2 2230 solid-state drive, whichever applicable.
Remove the display assembly.
Remove the fan (discrete graphics card) or fan (integrated graphics card), whichever applicable.
Remove the heat sink (discrete graphics card) or heat sink (integrated graphics card), whichever applicable.
Remove the speakers.
Remove the I/O board.
Remove the power button with optional fingerprint reader.
Remove the system board.
NOTE The system board can be removed with the heatsink attached to avoid breaking the thermal bond between system board and heatsink.

Remove the screw (M1.4x2.3) that secures the fan bracket to the palmrest.
Remove the fan bracket off the palmrest.
Peel the tapes that secure the antenna cables to the keyboard.
NOTE Applicable on computers shipped with WWAN card.
Remove the 28 screws (M1.2x1.5) that secure the keyboard to the palmrest.
Lift the keyboard off the palmrest.
