Making Connections: Dell & University of Texas McCombs

Quick Quiz:

Q: Name one thing Longhorn fans on the football field and Dell in the marketplace have in common.

A: Passion for winning!

Dell enjoys a strong academic and recruiting relationship with the University of Texas McCombs program and for the second consecutive year, Dell was the exclusive sponsor of the McCombs MBA Networking Reception.  The reception, which took place on Thursday, September 20th at the Hilton Austin, is a kick off event to McCombs’ annual fall MBA career fair, MBA CareerConnection. The purpose of the event is to provide an informal networking opportunity for company executives, recruiters and McCombs MBA students prior to the traditional career fair held the following day.  Cathy Thompson, Vice President- Finance at Dell and McCombs alumnus, was the keynote speaker for the reception.  Cathy emphasized the importance of networking your way to new opportunities upon graduation and throughout one’s career.  Dell’s sponsorship of the event continues to illustrate the strong commitment Dell has made to the McCombs MBA Program.

Dell also participated in the MBA CareerConnection the following day. Dell representatives were on hand to talk about full time opportunities in Services, Global Online, Corporate Accounting and Corporate Strategy, as well as internship opportunities.  Over 550 students and 79 companies from a wide variety of industries including Banking, Consumer Packaged Goods, Energy, Technology, Computers, Consulting, Insurance, Retail, Health Care and Non-profit participated in the 2 events.  In addition to seeing our former interns back on campus, Dell McCombs alumni and hiring managers enjoyed meeting new students in the season’s first major recruiting event.

Hook’em horns and we’ll see you on campus again soon!
