New Small Business Advice TV Channel on the Web

In July and August this year, Dell and others conducted a survey of 755 UK small business owners. According to that survey, almost half of the respondents were not impressed with existing business programs either on TV or online.

A quarter of those surveyed thought programs like Dragon’s Den and The Apprentice diminished the public’s perception of real business people. 27 percent of respondents did not believe these programs helped viewers with real business situations. And 74 percent went on to say they would be interested in more relevant business programming for small businesses. Dell and the British Chambers of Commerce, has collaborated with Intel to launch Small Business Advice TV – a new web TV channel designed to address the the needs of small businesses in the UK and beyond. The channel offers expert commentary and advice to business owners to take the headache out of areas like accounting, financing, marketing, HR and technology (which all featured as the top pain points in the research results).

The goal of each episode is to deliver practical information that's designed to give small business owners an advantage. Besides expert commentary and advice, you'll also be able to access short,  downloadable ‘how to’ videos.

Here’s a preview of what small business customers can expect:

Episode 1: Friday 28 Nov, 1pm UK GMT

Hosted by Sean Walsh, former CNBC anchor and senior producer of BBC TV News, he will be joined by John Dunsmure, MD, British Chambers of Commerce to look at how business can work their way through the current climate.

Episode 2: Thursday 4 Dec, 1pm UK GMT

An exclusive interview with Michael Dell. Join host Sean Walsh to learn invaluable entrepreneurial insights and experiences from our founder and CEO, including his advice to small businesses in the current climate.

Episode 3: Thursday 18 Dec, 1pm UK GMT

Expert interviews and case studies exploring the value of social networking and how it can help your business. Heather Gorringe, founder and Director of Wiggly Wigglers, the inaugural winner of the Dell Global Small Business Excellence Awards, joins Sean on the sofa.
