New to CloudIQ: PowerMax, VMAX, SC Series and XtremIO; Instantly View Your Dell Storage Health – From Anywhere

The CloudIQ team has been working hard to delight our customers by delivering a smarter, cloud-enabled storage health management system for Dell customers, partners, and support teams.  Customers love it because there’s no subscription, no software to install, and therefore no hassles.

Thousands of customers are using CloudIQ today to analyze and gain instant insights into their storage health – it’s like a fitness tracker for Dell Storage. We’re collecting millions of data points per day to aggregate, analyze and share what we’re learning from the world’s largest storage install base.

Today we’re happy to announce expanded support across our Dell portfolio, a new CloudIQ mobile app (iPhone & Android), and VMware visibility capabilities.

Expanded Storage Support Across PowerMax, VMAX, SC Series, and XtremIO

CloudIQ is happy to announce expanded support for Dell PowerMax, Dell VMAX, Dell SC Series, as well as Dell XtremIO – all rolling out within the next few weeks. CloudIQ is the one place that will let you view your storage health across all of your systems and allow you to track historical storage health scores.

CloudIQ

CloudIQ will be generally available for these systems – for free – as soon as the next service pack or code release for the storage systems supports it.  Here’s a handy guide to when things should be available:

  • Dell Unity: available since May 2016
  • Dell SC Series: available July 24th (SCOS 7.3)
  • Dell XtremIO: coming in September 2018
  • Dell VMAX: coming in September 2018
  • Dell PowerMax: coming in September 2018

CloudIQ – There’s An App for That

We’re also very excited about our new mobile app. Even without a mobile app, CloudIQ makes it simple for anyone with a browser to connect to cloudiq.dellemc.com and understand their storage health. But now we’ve made storage health even more accessible with a new mobile app available for iPhone and Android. This will be available in the next month and can show your storage health across all of your connected systems – right from the palm of your hand.

VMware Visibility

With the latest CloudIQ virtualization enhancements – which get rolled out to everyone for free –  CloudIQ not only shows storage objects, but also sees their associated virtual machines – providing administrators and trusted advisors better visibility into a sophisticated VM infrastructure. For those needing more insight into their VMware environment, they can gather performance metrics and capacity information at the VM level. Now you can find out which virtual machines are overwhelmed, which ones have spare capacity / performance, and which ones have had performance anomalies over time.

Trusted Advisor Lets Engineers Join Your Community

One feature that has recently gotten a lot of traction with our thousands of connected customers is the trusted advisor role. The trusted advisor role is a delegated permission to allow sales, support, and partner engineers to join a customer’s community and be able to see their CloudIQ dashboards and provide valuable expertise and advice.

Why would someone grant their Dell engineer or your favorite partner engineer access to their CloudIQ dashboards?

Experience and Insight. For some people, detailed performance charts can be daunting, and it can be hard to fully understand exactly what to look for. But in the hands of a trained professional, there is a story to be told!

Summary

In conclusion, today’s cloud environments require modern data center management approaches like CloudIQ – which acts like a fitness tracker for your storage.  Like any machine-learning technology, it gets smarter over time and will continue to update your baseline metrics and measure anomalies against it. We’re committed to covering even more platforms in the future and will continue to innovate in the areas of simplicity and accessibility.

CloudIQ is completely free for Dell storage customers, and if you want an immediate “test drive,” Dell Customers can access a full simulator here.
