Reduce the Attack Surface with Strong Lateral Security

Explore new security solutions from VMware Carbon Black for tighter control of endpoints, network and cloud environments.

With cybercrime on the rise, defending against the volume and sophistication of attacks poses major challenges for your security and IT operations teams. This onslaught makes it important to have layers of security in place designed to reduce the overall attack surface – both by working with secure devices and including specialized software to protect all the critical areas of your business. It means ensuring protection not just for your endpoint devices, but also for your network and cloud. Dell now offers two new VMware Carbon Black products that will help you do just that.

VMware Carbon Black Host-Based Firewall focuses protection on a critical line of defense for organizations. For a bit of context, firewalls monitor and control incoming and outgoing traffic through the network and environment. As a result, they provide increased network visibility and centralized policy management. Host-based firewalls enable security and IT teams to consolidate their technology stack by integrating firewall management capabilities directly into their endpoint and workload protection platform. By including host-based firewall capabilities in the Carbon Black Cloud platform, security operations centers (SOC) can leverage a single platform to help increase their overall efficiency and help reduce the resources needed to run their SOC while reducing the attack surface for a frequently targeted entry point into your network.

And because the best security always comes in layers, we’ve added a new extended detection and response option for VMware Carbon Black XDR. Reiterating my previous explainer on XDR, this level of lateral security is a must-have for today’s threat landscape. Security tools that work in concert and leverage firmware-level telemetry from a trusted device (like a Dell commercial PC) can see more and stop more threats. So, if you’re looking to build out your suite of VMware Carbon Black, VMware Carbon Black XDR unifies endpoint and workload security capabilities, providing the visibility and control you need across all your environments.

Protecting your organization is a massive task. Working with trusted partners like Dell and VMware Carbon Black will improve the security of your fleet through software designed to work together to reduce blind spots and the attack surface. This lets you identify threats efficiently and effectively wherever they occur, leading to better-informed decisions when developing and modifying prevention policies.
