Symptoms

 PPDM VM backup using VADP fails with the error below: 
Warnings :
Unable to collect list of allocated blocks for 'Hard disk 2'. Unable to query allocated blocks of virtual disk '[VxRail-Virtual-SAN-Datastore-xxxxx] xxxxx/VM1_5.vmdk'. Unable to open source VMDK '[VxRail-Virtual-SAN-Datastore-xxxxx] xxxxx/VM1_5.vmdk'. VDDK Error: 14009: The server refused connection

Error : Backup has FAILED. Unable to backup virtual disk "Hard disk 2". Unable to initialize Block Reader. Unable to open source VMDK '[VxRail-Virtual-SAN-Datastore-xxxxx] xxxxx/VM1_5.vmdk'. VDDK Error: 14009: The server refused connection. (500)
ErrorCode : ABV0022
The hostd.log on the esxi host has the following error messages: 
YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss. info hostd[2101627] [Originator@6876 sub=DiskLib opID=lro--xxxxx] DISKLIB-CTK   : Could not open change tracking file "/vmfs/volumes/vsan:xxxxx/yyyyy/VM1_5-ctk.vmdk": Could not open or create change tracking file.

Cause

Issue at Vmware level with CBT (Change Block Tracking)

Resolution

Contact Vmware Support to resolve the Change Block Tracking failure for this VM. Also review VMware Article https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2139574  This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies. to reset CBT
