PowerFlex 3.X: How to take Backup and Restore of the system successfully using Local Share Storage
Summary: Provides the steps to perform a backup to the local NFS share on PowerFlex Manager and perform a restore operation.
Instructions
How to do a Backup in PowerFlex Manager:

SSH into PowerFlex Manager with delladmin and sudo to root user (sudo su - ) enterr in the delladmin password.

Go to the NFS share directory: cd /var/nfs/

Create the directory: mkdir backup

Configure permissions on the backup directory:
chown tomcat:delladmin backup chmod 755 backup

Login to PowerFlex Manager GUI and click on the question mark in the upper right-hand corner and choose about to confirm the version of PowerFlex Manager.

Click on settings and click Backup and Restore.

Under Settings and Details, click on Edit and provide the inputs in all the boxes.
Note: Provide Backup path 127.0.0.1:/var/nfs/backup

Click on Test Connection and it should show as “The test was successful”. Click Save to save the backup settings.

Click the Backup Now button, check the box to use backup settings, and then click Backup Now to start the backup. Wait until the backup is completed.

- Once the backup is successful, use WinSCP to connect to PowerFlex Manager and copy the backup files to the jump host.

How to do Restore in PowerFlex Manager

Bring the new PowerFlex Manager VM online. Do initial setup config confirm the IP addresses and enable and start SSH.

SSH into PowerFlex Manager with delladmin and switch to the root user (sudo su - ) enter the delladmin password when prompted.

Go to the NFS share directory: cd /var/nfs/

Create the directory: mkdir backup

Use WinSCP to connect to PowerFlex Manager and copy the backup files to the /var/nfs/backup folder:
- Modify the permissions on the directory:
chown tomcat:delladmin backup chmod 755 backup
- Login to PowerFlex Manager GUI Dashboard >> click on the question mark symbol & click on about confirm version of PowerFlex Manager.

Navigate to Settings > Backup and Restore, and click Restore Now. Provide the inputs as specified filename respective environment & click Test Connection. If successful, click Restore Now to start the Restore.

Wait for the restore to complete and PFxM UI to show a login prompt.
