PowerStore: Health Check: Platform DARE Drive No Encryption Key Check Failed

Symptoms

PowerStore Manager may display the following message when performing a Health Check of a PowerStore cluster as part of routine maintenance or when preparing a PowerStore cluster for a non-disruptive software update (NDU): Platform DARE drive no encryption key check failed. The upgrade cannot start while there are drives that have no encryption key. Please call Support (dare_drive_no_key_failed_X)".

Pre-Upgrade Health Check (PUHC) - D@RE Encryption Check

This message might be observed on the following PowerStoreOS versions:

  • 2.0.0.0
  • 3.6.x+

Cause

A rare race condition may occur during drive replacement that results in no encryption key being associated.

Resolution

Contact Dell Technologies Global Remote Support immediately for assistance.
