Game Profiles Disappears in Alienware Command Center for Some Games

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install and launch AWCC v6.X
  2. Install the game
  3. Open the game title page
  4. Create an FX game profile and activate it
  5. After a few days, the profile disappears

Expected outcome: AWCC game profile is available and does not disappear.

Actual outcome: The game profile in AWCC disappears after updating the game.

Cause

When a game profile is created, the profile ID is mapped to the Game ID. However, for some games the update process uninstalls and installs the game, resulting in deleting the Game ID (uninstall) and creating a new Game ID (install). This process breaks the old mapping between PresetColor and Game ID, causing the FX game profile to disappear after the game update.

Resolution

The engineering department is working on a fix to be released in AWCC version 6.6 or later. The updated AWCC install file is posted to the computer's support page once it is made available.
