Dell Unity: Unity All-Flash Array (AFA) is reporting “15b4000 [WARN] System” messages with lane errors (“Lane 0 Error”). (Dell Correctable)

A correctable event occurred within the hardware located on the Storage Processor (SP) supporting the inter-SP connection known as the CMI (Common Management Interface).  This event may be reported for a single lane within the CMI but all lanes are reported in the log every time.

These messages can safely be ignored. There is no need to replace hardware at this time. PCIe correctable errors are corrected as they occur. The error threshold allows for no more than 100 errors per lane within a 24 hour period. The warning messages are generally expected in low numbers and must be tolerated. They do not warrant hardware replacement, and any impact to the performance of the system is negligible.  The correctable error warning messages can occur with any hardware, even new replacement hardware. This is why hardware replacement is not recommended unless the correctable error threshold is exceeded.

This issue has been fixed in Dell EMC Unity Operating Environment (OE) version 4.3.1 and later.  The fix increases the error threshold to 1000 error per lane within a 24 hour period.

Reboot the SP showing as faulted and upgrade to Unity OE 4.3.1 or later to obtain the fix.

Please note that an issue exists where one or both SPs may show as faulted in the GUI even though they are seen as normal from CLI.  As described above, this should have no impact on the system, unless the SP is truly faulted.
