Installing the fan interface board
Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only
be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation,
or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team.
Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are
shipped with your product.
NOTE: This is a field replaceable
unit (FRU). Removal and installation procedures must be performed
only by Dell certified service technicians.
- Ensure that you read the Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
- Remove the fan interface board.NOTE: You must remove the fan interface board to replace a faulty board or service other components in the system.
Steps
- Place the fan interface board in the system.
NOTE: Ensure that the tabs on the back of the fan interface board engage with the notches on the system.
- Slide the fan interface board toward the midplane until the connector engages firmly with the pins on the midplane.
- Tighten the two spring-loaded screws to secure the fan interface board to the system.
