Perform the following steps to configure the VMware ESXi VMkernel:
From the VMWare VSphere web client, click Configure > Networking > Physical adapters.
Locate and document the device name for the
NICs used for iSCSI traffic.
Click the VMkernel adapters, then click the plus (+) icon to create a VMkernel adapter.
On the Select Connection Type page, select VMkernel Network Adapter > Next.
On the Select Target Device page, select New standard switch > Next.
On the Create Standard Switch page, click the plus (+) icon, then select vmnic > OK to connect to the subnet
defined in step 4 of the “Attach hosts to the storage system” procedure.
Click Next.
Provide a network label, then update the port properties.
On the IPv4 settings page, select Static IP and assign an IP using your planning worksheet.
Click Next.
On the Ready to complete page, review the
settings and then click Finish.
Repeat steps 1–11 for each NIC to use
for iSCSI traffic.
NOTE:If you are using jumbo
frames, they must be enabled and configured on all devices in the
data path, adapter ports, switches, and storage system.
