Register a XenServer host with a software iSCSI adapter and create volumes

Perform the following steps to register a XenServer host with a software iSCSI adapter, and create volumes using the PowerVault Manager:

  1. Log in to the PowerVault Manager.
  2. Create initiators for the XenServer hosts.
    1. From the Hosts topic, select Action > Create Initiator
    2. Type the iSCSI IQN that was specified for the XenServer host in Configure the iSCSI IQN on a XenServer host.
    3. Type a name for the initiator in the Initiator Name field.
  3. Select the initiator.
  4. Select Action > Add to Host.
    The Add to Host dialog box is displayed.
  5. Type a hostname or select a host from the Host Select field and click OK.
  6. Repeat the previous steps for all the XenServer hosts iSCSI IQNs.
  7. Group hosts together with other hosts in a cluster.
    1. Select the host to add to the host group.
    2. Select Action > Add to Host Group.
      The Add to Host Group dialog box is displayed.
    3. Type a host group name or select a host group from the Host Group Select field and click OK.
  8. Map the volumes to the host group.
    1. Click the Volumes topic, select the volume to map.
      If a volume does not exist, create a volume.
    2. Select Action > Map Volumes.
      The Map dialog box is displayed.
    3. Select the host group from the Available Host Groups, Host, and Initiators area.
    4. If not already selected, select the volumes from the Available Volume Groups and Volumes area.
    5. Click Map.
    6. Click OK.
