Certificate management

The settings and options for using and managing certificates.

APEX Cloud Platform SSL Certificates

APEX Cloud Platform Manager uses certificates for HTTPS and LDAPS access. APEX Cloud Platform Manager generates a default SSL self-signed certificate to establish an encrypted channel between WAC and APEX Cloud Platform Manager. Replace the default self-signed certificate with a certificate authority (CA) signed certificate from a trusted third-party CA or enterprise public key infrastructure (PKI).

You can use the following types of certificates for APEX Cloud Platform Manager:

  • Self-signed
  • Signed by a trusted CA vendor

For information about managing certificates, see the following topics in the Dell APEX Cloud Platform for Microsoft Azure Administration Guide on the Dell Support site:

  • Replace the APEX Cloud Platform SSL Certificate
  • Replace Windows LDAPS Certificates into APEX Cloud Platform Manager Trust Store

Best practices to consider when creating a certificate:

  • To comply with security best practice, use CA-signed digital certificates with a minimum of 128 bits of security for the digital signature algorithm and hashes.
  • Consider company policies when you create certificates.
