PowerProtect Data Manager 19.10 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Enable the Oracle RMAN agent after hostname change

After the hostname of the Oracle RMAN agent host is changed, you must re-register the Oracle RMAN agent, create new lockbox files, and update the lockbox setting for the protection policy.

About this task

Perform the following steps to enable the Oracle RMAN agent operations after the hostname is changed.

Steps

  1. Re-register the Oracle RMAN agent with PowerProtect Data Manager by running the register.sh script from the agent service directory /opt/dpsapps/agentsvc.
  2. Delete the existing ddboost.config* lockbox files in the $RMAN_AGENT_HOME/config directory.
  3. Obtain the updated hostname of the client system by running the uname -n command.
  4. Create the new lockbox files on the client by running the ddutil command:
    ddutil -H "hostnames <Oracle_hostname>"
    Replace <Oracle_hostname> with the hostname.
  5. In the PowerProtect Data Manager UI, configure the lockbox:
    1. In the left navigation pane, select Protection > Protection Policies.
    2. On the Protection Policies page, select the applicable protection policy in the list and click Set Lockbox.
